Feast day: October 4th                     House charity : Ark animal rescue centre

Assisi house is named after Saint Francis of Assisi who lived from 1181 – 1226. Saint Francis of Assisi abandoned a life of luxury for a life devoted to Christianity after reportedly hearing the voice of God, who commanded him to rebuild the Christian church and live in poverty.

He had great respect for nature and animals were very important to Francis. It is said that he had a special way with animals that did not seem to be afraid of him. We are told that one day he even preached to the birds around him as he walked in the woods.

Saint Francis of Assisi was a very thoughtful and kind man. He loved nature and helped lots of people in many different ways. He hated putting himself first and he changed his way of life so he could help others. He lived in poverty and wanted to be poor like Jesus was.

Saint Francis showed mercy as his parents didn’t treat him as they should have, so he treated animals and people how he would want to be treated. Linking this to our Mission Statement, we should treat everyone, even people that you don’t really like, as we would want to be treated ourselves because we value all in the name of Jesus the Christ.
