This year, we aimed to achieve the Silver Sportsmark Award (which we did).

In order to do so, the profile of PE needed to be raised. Throughout this last academic year, all children have attended a tournament and many children have regularly represented the school at sports competitions. The benefits are wide and varied and clear to see.

  • Improved confidence and self-esteem
  • An understanding of new sports
  • Many events were non-selective and therefore, inclusive
  • Enabled children to work collaboratively
  • Improved lunchtime behaviour
  • Developed critical thinking skills eg: decision making
  • Developed positive behaviours and attitudes
  • Increased physical fitness
  • Increased pupil engagement in PE lessons
  • Increase in the number of sports offered in school
  • Satisfaction of achieving a goal
  • Increased resilience
  • Up-skilling of teachers
