The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in
2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include:

- Winning a football and dodge ball league, bringing home the trophies for our display.
- Attendance at C4L club was raised and they attended Go Run for Fun as an end goal.
- Getting into the second round of the Yorkshire PE and Sports Premium Awards, in which winners will be decided on Friday 29th June.
- Raising the engagement of children at clubs from 85% (last year) to 90%.
- Sports leaders and SSOC (18%) supporting more at lunch times and after school clubs.
With a total of young people competing in local inter-school
competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of
participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that
the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to:
All of the children who have taken part in sporting competitions this year, all of the parents who have supported them through this and all of the staff who have been involved in the delivery of PE lessons, sporting competitions, lunchtime and after school clubs.
We look forward to applying once again in 2019!
Silver School Games Mark
Today, 21st June 2017, we are very proud to announce that we have achieved the SILVER award of the School Games Mark criteria in PE. This year we have worked tirelessly to encourage our children to take part in as many competitions as possible, attend as many lunch time and after school clubs as they can, listened to their views and opinions about what provision we can provide for them in regards to sports and PE and try to encourage our least active or unconfident children in joining in more clubs. From this we have achieved the award and couldn't be prouder! Next year, we will aim to maintain the current sporting provision we provide and give even more opportunities for children to participate in sporting events, clubs and initiatives. Thank you to all of the staff, children and parents of chidlren who have supported us in this journey to reaching our goal. Watch this space, next year we will be aiming for GOLD!
