During w/c 18th September 2017, each class held a 'Meet the Teacher Welcome Meeting'. If you were not able to attend, we have attached the Powerpoint from the meeting. This gives you all the information you need to know about being in this class this year. We also sent home a Summary Information Sheet and these are attached too.

The first topic of the term for Year 4 is ‘Lights, camera, action!’. We have turned ourselves into scientists looking at different aspects of light and sounds. Today, we were given a pile of resources and the challenge to make a simple circuit to light up a bulb. We had a few funny creations but after a little bit of tweaking we all managed to create a fully functioning simple circuit, hurray!

In maths, Year 4 have been looking at negative numbers. As a starter to one of our lessons we went into the hall where each was then given a number between -50 and 50. They had to communicate with each other (teachers didn’t say a word!) to order themselves from the smallest up to the biggest number. With a few tweaks, we were third time lucky and mastered it by the end!

Science - Reflections

In Year 4, we have been looking at reflections; materials that reflect light well; what happens when light is reflected and how we see light that is reflected. We carried out an investigation looking at a variety of materials to which one reflected the most amount of light.

Children in Need

On Friday, the children in Year 4 were baking delicious biscuits in the theme of Children in Need. They had to weigh out their own ingredients and follow the instructions carefully to ensure they had the right texture. They did this in preparation for writing their own instructions on Monday of what they did. Once they had been baked and left to cool, the children decorated them with yellow icing sugar and smarties to represent Pudsey!
