Saint Mary’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy was inspected by Ofsted at the start of November 2017. I have great pleasure in announcing that the overall effectiveness of our academy was judged to be GOOD. Within this, there were five categories and we were judged to be GOOD in every single one. This is a great achievement for the school and is our strongest inspection report to date. It reflects all the hard work and dedication that has been put in by everyone in school to give our children the best education possible.
The Inspectors were very positive during the visit and acknowledged how far the academy has come on its journey of improvement through the relentless drive to improve outcomes for pupils. Our previous inspection in October 2015, judged Saint Mary’s to be a school which REQUIRED IMPROVEMENT, so we are delighted that the improvements made within the last two years have been recognised. The inspectors commented that, Saint Mary’s has improved markedly since its previous inspection. Decisive and determined action means that teaching is good and standards are rising. Robust systems are in place to check the quality of teaching and the progress pupils are making… and as a result pupils are now making better progress and achieving well. Classrooms are places where pupils enjoy learning because learning is exciting and engaging. This is an excellent achievement for our children, staff & governors and I am extremely proud of them all.
We are delighted with these judgements and will continue to work hard to ensure we carry on raising standards for all children to achieve their potential.
