Headteacher’s Welcome

At St Mary’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy School, we are extremely proud of the success and achievements of all our children. We embrace and live by our school mission statement;

‘We value all in the name of Jesus the Christ’.

It is a school where children learn to grow and embrace our Catholic values.

Our school is one which excels in providing exemplary care to everyone in our community; where standards are high and expectations are clear and consistent. These expectations not only extend to our children but to our staff as we strive to provide the very best learning environment for your child. Our committed and dedicated staff aim to make all areas of our school environment both happy and lively. At St Mary’s, we provide the best opportunities in life. Children should never be defined by demographics nor status; neither should they be defined by colour, race or ethnicity. Children are defined by their potential, kindness, love and above all respect which they show to each other.

We plan a curriculum which is organised and challenging and taught in an immersive manner, which stimulates learning and promotes excitement and progress for all children. The climate is one of mutual self-respect, high standard and a school where each child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

At St Mary’s we work in partnership with parents and external agencies to ensure we achieve the best possible outcomes for our children. Our place in the local community is unrivalled and we continue to build upon the reputation that the school enjoys.

The role of any Catholic Headteacher is to follow the example of Jesus, who came not to be served but to serve. This is my vision for the children here at St Mary’s Grimsby. We are all here to serve our children and to give them an education which is not only second to none but one which is ambitious, challenging, creative and which prepares them for their next journey in their transition to secondary education. Our aspirations for our children are high and we settle for nothing less than Good!

If you are a new parent we would welcome the opportunity for you to come and have a look for yourself, to experience the special nurturing environment, warmth and commitment to ensuring that the years spent by pupils in our school are happy and productive. I would like to extend this opportunity to any parents or carers to come and visit our beautiful school. Applicants who are non-Catholic may also apply to the school.

Every Good Wish

Mr Joseph O’Connor
